FRIENDS OF THE LOG HOUSE
The Pioneer Memorial Log House Museum was built in 1936 by the San Jacinto Chapter Daughters of the Republic of Texas as a Houston hospitality center to commemorate the Texas Centennial. It is now both a museum and a teaching center of early Texas history as well as the meeting site of the San Jacinto Chapter DRT. The mission of the Log House is to collect and preserve documents and relics related to the early history of Texas, Texians, and Houston and to encourage the study of Texas history through exhibits, literature and educational programs.
The Friends of the Log House was begun as a vehicle to give continued support of this historic building. Membership is open to anyone who loves Texas history and wants to help us foster that passion and enthusiasm. We encourage friends and acquaintances to join us in continuing our mission of preserving the past and protecting the future of our state’s history.
An annual contribution is a great help in maintaining the house and grounds. Aall monetary contributions are tax exempt and help us meet our obligations. We also accept donations of furniture, equipment, landscape services, etc. Remember the Log House as a beneficiary in your will.
Many opportunities are available to volunteer your services as a museum docent, in our out-reach education to schools and private groups, in hosting programs and special events, in maintaining our gardens and grounds. We welcome associate members, honorary members and all Texas history enthusiasts to become a Friend of the Log House.
Our membership levels are as follows:
Texas Star--$25
Silver Star--$50
Shining Star--$100
Gold Star--$250
Lone Star--$500
Platinum Star--$1,000- and higher
The Friends of the Log House appreciates our unique facility and is mindful of our stewardship of the house and grounds. We thank you for your past interest and invite you to share in the continuing effort to support our goals and ideals. Checks can be mailed to our treasurer Mrs. Katherine Theilen, 5047 Oak Shadows Dr., Houston TX 77091.
